Victora Maclean set the record this week for the largest collection of Harry Potter memorabilia in the world!
The previous Guinness World Record holder had 3,097 individual Harry Potter items (it really puts the amount of merchandise into perspective), and Maclean believed herself to have up to 4,000 items. Prior to winning the record, she told BBC News:
“The record would be absolutely everything to me. I was completely and utterly in love, it’s been a bit of an obsession since then.
“I was 21 – a bit old, I couldn’t go to Hogwarts – so I decided to bring Hogwarts to me. So I bought everything I could – and could afford – and it snowballed from there.”
She owns a YouTube channel, meaning she is sent some official merchandise, and told the story of her award win in a recent video:
Some of her items are rare pieces – take a look at this Golden Snitch puzzle piece, made of real gold:
My stunning 24k gold plated Golden Snitch puzzle piece from Japan. I was after one of these for 6 years and finally got this one for only £60. These are now worth around £800 IF you can find one but they are worth hunting and waiting for indeed. #collection #harrypotter pic.twitter.com/9xu1mSTyFj

After being inspected by two independent witnesses, her collection was pronounced to stand at a wild 3,686 items of Wizarding World merchandise – officially the biggest memorabilia collection in the world!
She told The Independent she was a proud Ravenclaw and Slytherin – a Slytherclaw – and told the BBC that she was overjoyed to receive the award:
“I screamed a lot – it was so incredible after all these months.”
Her collection is estimated to be worth around £100,000:
“I’ll never stop collecting until I really, really have to. I don’t smoke, I rarely drink – this is my vice,” she told the BBC.
Congratulations to Victoria on her achievement! Listen to her story here.
