Happy Snapeday! If I could give our favorite Potions Master anything for his birthday, it would be a chance to start over from scratch, with just a little more awareness that his flirtation with the Dark Arts would likely cost him the thing that he valued most in life. But then again, if I got my wish, there would be no Harry Potter saga as we know it. So I guess that I will have to live with my sadness for this great tragic character, and be ever thankful to JKR for giving him to us all.

My eight-year-old is currently reading Prisoner of Azkaban – the passage where Snape is teaching DADA class about werewolves. So apt, for such a great character! Always!
