Forbes.com has released their annual ranking of most powerful women in the world and, once again, Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has made the list. The author is among such government officials, corporate executives and media figures as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, PepsiCo's chief Indra Nooyi, and Oprah Winfrey. Ms Rowling ranks at number 61 of the World's Most Powerful Women list for 2011.
I am thrilled Rowling is on the list but I am equally deeply disappointed that Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir didn’t make the list. She is Prime Minister of Iceland and she’s been leading her country extremely well through its financial crisis, standing up to the bullies at the EU (#1 on the list) and the IMF (#9) in some of the most creative ways I’ve ever heard of. She also happens to be the world’s first openly gay head of government, which expands her spheres of influence beyond the reaches of her country, qualifying her for the list. So, again it’s disappointing that that influential woman is not on the list but I’m glad Rowling’s on it, at least.

Wow, I can’t believe this woman isn’t on the list either. We certainly need more Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir in this world… But again, you might mention the reason why she didn’t make it in your comment. She STOOD UP. Are independence and difference too much for Forbes ?
Let us do our own list and put her, in good position, in it, right ? :-)
I’m not suprised! She is amazing :)
