In April, the Contest Team asked you to write a passage from Hogwarts, A History as it would appear once it had been changed by the mischievous Fred and George as part of the Fred & George's Hogwarts History Contest. After receiving many terrific entries, the judges have now picked the winners as follows (please click the author's name to be directed to his/her winning entry at the Leaky Lounge):
First Place: shosier
Second Place: Ashley M
Third Place: LadyBlack
Honourable Mention: Chase Boyd
Honourable Mention: Gwynog'srabbit
The first place winner will receive a handcrafted wand donated by Wizard
Wood Wands (design changes each month) and 200 MyLeaky points. Congratulations to the winners and all who entered!

WeenyOwl, perhaps non-staff doesn’t have those options in posting, I don’t know, but we as staff at least do. We can post in color, italics, bold, underline. So we would do our best to keep the format to distinguish different parts of your entry, if that makes sense. Obviously, for most contests, that isn’t necessary, but for one such as this particular contest, it would make sense to use those options to make your entry more understandable. So feel free to enter next time! We’re sorry you missed out on this one!

WeenyOwl, that is so cool that you know the literary history of the long spoons! That’s one of my favorite things when I read – finding stuff that the writer put in that goes beyond whatever the immediate reason for it was. And how appropriate to use it about the behavior of politicians – that’s so funny! I don’t think I’ve heard it used that way before.
And I agree with everyone else – Shosier’s was amazing, I loved it so much!

WeenyOwl, I would like to direct your attention to Valeria-Johanna’s Honorable Mention in the Snape & Drago Story Contest. She had placed italics for the first two lines in each coupling for the ballad and we kept those italics when we posted the entry. Some of the more minor boldings, italics, etc are sometimes left off (by accident or on purpose), but we do try to include any bolding, italics, etc that are included in the entry (any entry). Sometimes extra information is included that we do not post, but what is pertinent we also try to post. So if someone had, in their entry, made it clear where something is “rewritten” by F&G and something was not, we would have included that in the final posting, but no one did. In the future though, if we do another contest like this or any contest you feel it is necessary, please feel free to indicate where something needs to be brought to the reader’s attention. Bolding and/or italics are the easiest, but color also works. So don’t miss out next time! :) If anything, ask and we’ll let you know if we can/cannot do it if you think it’s important.
