Fun Friday: Some Library Reading Material

One creative college student solved the problem of what to do if Moaning Myrtle leaves your favorite lavatory reading material soggy. PostSecret featured this image of the entire first chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone written on a bathroom wall.

That is an awesome idea! If only I still was at Uni with hours to kill between classes – I’d put my favourite chapters in all the toilets!

Very appropriate for Harry Potter. When I was young I used to get annoyed with books where no one ever seemed to go to the toilet. Where, I would wonder, do the children GO when they are in the secret hideaway behind the waterfall? And when the girls go, do the boys just have to look the other way? If JKR had been around in my childhood, I would never have had to worry about things like that. In her work, toilets and bathrooms are provided in abundance.

@V-J, you need to read Diana Wynne Jones’s hilarious send-up of the epic fantasy genre, ‘The Tough Guide to Fantasyland,’ which is written in the form of a travel guidebook. The fact that no one seems to have excretory functions in fantasy novels is but one of hundreds of tropes and cliches that she skewers. Highly recommended!
