I think over all, in spite of (and because of, I suppose) the fact that it made me cry nearly from start to finish, Deathly Hallows Part 2 is my favorite. I love the emotional intensity of it. Alan Rickman’s performance was amazingly expressive and moving in every scene he was in. All of the actors were amazing and those little thrilling moments (the re-lighting of the torches in the great hall when Hogwarts was retaken from the Death Eaters, Maggie Smith’s voice echoing when she said “Boom!”, the adults casting the protective spells over the school, etc.) were so exciting and made me feel like I was right there with them through it all. The exchange between Remus Lupin and Kingsley Shacklebolt (“It is the quality of one’s convictions that determine success” “Who said that?” “Me.”) sticks with me as one of my favorite scenes. Matthew Lewis showed us all what a hero Neville had grown up into and it was impossible not to be so proud of him. There are just so many great moments that I can’t help but choose it as my favorite of the films, even though I truly love them all.

My favorite HP film is between 7.1 OR 3.

I still can’t get over how much I love 7.1. The acting, the tone, the cinematography, and the animation sequence.

I love 3, because it showed the shift from child friendly film to adult/teenage film. The directing was very well done, and it was easy to follow the changes in time. I watched this film with a non-fan, and it’s the first time I didn’t have to answer questions. The trio did a wonderful job with the script and action sequences. Still love that quick gasp and hand holding session between Ron and Hermione.

I am partial to “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” for several reasons. I love the suspense Harry feels as letters come looking for him and Hagrid appears bearing such wonderful news. I love Richard Harris as Dumbledore because he caught that quirkiness Dumbledore has in the books. And finally, I like that the movie was long enough and the book was short enough that very little needed to be cut out of the beloved story in order to adapt it to screen.
