The Bookseller is reporting that Charlie Redmayne, HarperCollins' Executive Vice-President and Chief Digital Officer, is set to become Pottermore's CEO on November 7th. The report quotes Neil Blair, Ms. Rowling's longtime agent and Chairman of Pottermore, as saying Redmayne is "a formidable talent in both the digital and publishing spheres," and has an "'entrepreneurial spirit', [which] made him the ideal appointment for the role."
Pottermore had been under the helm of interim CEO Rod [not Ron as has been elsewhere reported] Henwood, but, as the Bookseller notes, Redmayne's appointment marks "the next phase of the project," according to Mr. Blair. In regards to Pottermore, Redmayne calls it "a hugely exciting project which will take one of the greatest brands in literature into a digital future."

I have been in since about the second week. I got in after dueling was taken down. There are a lot of glitches but that is why it is called a beta site. Usually sites don’t let the public beta for them. We have to remember that those of us that are betas are being let in on something usually reserved for trained computer programmers. I don’t think they anticipated the amount of cheating that went on but then again the cheating has helped them to close some loop holes. Also, from what I heard from another member they did not anticipate us using the comment area to chat. They replied to this person’s feedback saying the comment area was only supposed to be for beta comments. I think if they are worried about safety they need to find a way to make age requirement chat areas. Too many people are going off site to chat and it could be those kids that Pottermore is trying to protect with the moderation of certain words and number. Many people have figured out how to out smart the moderation with roman numerals crazy spellings and spacing letters so they don’t get flagged. I see people giving out age and names in the common room everyday using the roman numbers and spelling their name with s p a c e s. The moderation that was supposes to make sure no inappropriate words or personal information is failing big time.

Clearly, the good folks at Pottermore did not / do not understand the nature of the ‘beast’ they are trying to tame… We will see just how Charlie rides on the back of this tiger! Alas, dearest Jo, my gut is beginning to tell me you have created a hole in the internet that you will be throwing a LOT of money into… :+/

It’s way better that they are discovering all this stuff now though, with a small number of people exposed rather than the entire world. Whenever I leave the house there’s still this air of mystery surrounding Pottermore which is cool to see when talking to people who didn’t get in.
I guess this means we’ll see the comment area dissaparating come public time. Don’t know how a new CEO is going to speed up the reinstatement of dueling, but I’d love to see it back.

Oh, and everyone please stop complaining. It’s quite annoying. Plus, Pottermore had done the best they could, and just picture yourself in that position before you complain. Don’t worry, it will get fixed.
