Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has won two awards at the first annual Teen Read Awards presented by Chapters Indigo Books & Music. Rowling received the Best Book-to-Flick award for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Best All-Time Fave for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Lord Voldemort was also one of the nominees for the Best Villain award. While Rowling did not attend the event, the author wrote a letter thanking everyone who voted.
The event took place on Saturday evening in Toronto, Canada. Many thanks to Emily for emailing in!

Looks like not enough Canadian teen readers are aware of the best fantasy author in their own midst, Guy Gavriel Kay. Maybe it’s because most of his books aren’t pitched specifically at the Young Adult market. But anybody who loves epic fantasy, especially with a historical context, should enjoy them.

I know that Indigo store! It’s huge, I went there only once. But I could spend hours there. I can’t believe I wasn’t there!!!!
But either way, Harry Potter is a brilliant book. And should be given the recognition.

I don’t agree with the first award, i found the 1st or 2nd much better adaptaions, and Jo wouldn’t get the award, the screen writers and directors should get it. But the 2nd award is well deserved.
