There are now only 78 days left until "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" hits theaters! We are posting a quote from the first half of the book every day in celebration and to give us a chance to discuss and ponder the final book as it goes to film. Here is today's quote!
"Why did half of us never even know she existed, until they carried the coffin out of the house and held a funeral for her? Where was saintly Albus while Ariana was locked in the cellar? Off being brilliant at Hogwarts, and never mind what was going on in his own house!"

Aunt Muriel and Rita Skeeter would have made a great reporting team! Both love gossip and don’t care if it is true or not, and neither witch cares a fig for anyone else’s feelings. Both are cynical and mean spirited.

Muriel may not be likable, but I think the point is that by a certain age one no longer cares what other people think. She is correct in pointing out that one of the perqs of being a very elderly woman is that one can finally stop worrying about pleasing other people all the time, as we are trained to do from girlhood. Unfortunately, it sounds like in Muriel’s case, she never really cared whom she offended. In a way she is the negative flip side of Luna’s refreshing honesty.

Auntie Muriel is a huge pain in the back side, however at 107 she’s entitled to a litte gossip. I agree that she and Rita would make a dynomite team of world class gossips. Too bad she always thinks the worst of everyone.
dont like her!
