they all look so goood! this is so bloody exciting!
Quick update. Just found out that the Harry/Ginny kiss in the MTV teaser is from Part 2

This trailer is for both parts. You can see scenes from from the end of the book (Voldemort in the forest, Harry approaching him to sacrifice himself), and also, at the end of the trailer, it doesn’t say “part 1”.

Oh, AND there’s no release date at the end. All of that points to it being meant as a teaser for both parts!

I think the last picture of Harry on his own, and the one of Ron and Hermione are from after they escape Gringotts. There’s a lake in the background- which obviously they jump into from the back of the dragon- and I think Harry looks so distressed because he’s just connected with Voldemort and seen that he’s going to Hogwarts.
This made me SO excited I can’t even begin to describe it. I’m wondering why Ginny and Harry are kissing at Hogwarts, but I don’t actually mind that much. They deserve a proper kiss after the one they got in HBP!

YAY for pictures! Now I can choose a new wallpaper for my laptop! :) The trailer totally didn’t disappoint me either!
Could the Harry/Ginny kiss take place either directly before the final battle, or maybe directly after it? I assume it’s before, because Harry just doesn’t look beat-up enough yet. Maybe it’s them saying what could potentially be their last goodbye. And just to expand on one of my earlier comments, I’m all for them expanding the story a bit, especially in Part 1. Let’s face it, the first half of the last book doesn’t have a lot of action going on, and is mostly HRH isolated from the rest of the Wizarding World, with no clue what is going on. That might work on the written page, but for a film, I think they need to jump back and forth between Hogwarts and HRH in the wilderness, simply because if they don’t, it’ll be hours of just three actors on the screen. In Tolkien’s written version of Lord of the Rings (specifically The Two Towers), he splits up his characters, and the book is split into two parts, with the first half featuring one group and the second half featuring the other; it makes for good dramatic tension, but in the film Peter Jackson chose to meld the two storylines together, allowing us to not be separated from one group of characters for very long.

So here’s the deal. This trailer (which looks great!) points to my theory of the movie splitting post Gringotts as being correct. Since we’re seeing the Gringott’s dragon and Dobby’s grave we know that Gringotts will be the climax of movie 1. It makes sense from a story perspective as the very aftermath of the Gringott’s scene clearly divides the book Deathly Hallows into 2 distinct portions. Not equal portions, pagecount-wise, but separate distinct sections. Before Gringotts, Voldemort does not know Harry is hunting horcruxes. After Gringotts Voldy knows he’s hunting horcruxes. This is a huge reversal, a huge revelation – in short, the biggest game changer in the 7th book – if not the entire series. When Harry, Ron and Hermione are on the banks of the lake watching the old dragon drink water, Harry decides to go to return to Hogwarts and race Voldemort for the final Horcruxes, and Voldemort begins searching – truly marking his foe as an equal. This is the perfect place to break. The “road trip movie”, as it’s so often been called, ends when Harry sets his course home — back to Hogwarts. Bookwise this split came late, but movie-wise it’s a perfect place to split it 50/50 – since they want to milk the final battle for all its worth cinematically and emotionally. I think movie 8 should be and could be rightfully called, HARRY POTTER AND THE BATTLE OF HOGWARTS. Movie 2 will begin with the trio arriving in Hogsmeade, where Aberforth will try and dissuade Harry from his quest – but Harry will enter through the room of requirement – and this will be the break into act 2 of Movie 8, where Harry will rally the troops and begin the final battle. This is a great split for Movie 7&8 – what I suspected and the trailer proves it. Re: Movie 7, Ron will return in the second half of movie 7, which will involve Malfoy Manor, Shell Cottage and act 3 of movie 7 will be the planning and breaking into Gringots – which turns out to be a direct and open challenge to Voldemort – which is the ultimate gamechanger. Not a cliffhanger, but an emotional place to break it – very much like the end of the Two Towere, where Gandalf says Sauron’s wrath will be great (after they won battle of Helm’s Deep) Can’t wait!!!
