1. Why are they alone for the final showdown?
2. What is the dragon doing there? Am I forgetting something?
3. Why couldn’t they have them wear wizarding clothes (at least Harry for the battle) rather than more muggle clothes?

@Nimbus. As far as I can make out the Dragon is taking off from the top of Gringotts. They have been on the run in the Muggle world they changed at the lake into ordinary clothes before Hogsmead. And, they are probably alone in the final scene because it makes better cinema. The films are the films the books the books. Anyone who reads the book just before seeing the film is deliberately setting themselves up for disappointment. The films will not be like DH the book. Only in spirit.

These last films, judging from the mindblowing trailers so far, will be the best of the series, but, all the fans who want it to be exactly like the book will be disappointed. Creative film makers are not interested in slavishly copying the books. If Rowling can let them do their own thing, I don’t see why we can’t let them. Either way the vast majority will be blown away, especially as up to half the punters have never read a Potter book in their lives.

I have never wanted a summer to pass more quickly. Only Williams doing the soundtrack could ruin it for me, as I don’t believe for a nano-second he did the soundtrack to this amazing trailer, and it would be a shame to have Theme Park Muzak for Deathly Hallows. Roll on November!!

THOSE WANDS SHOULD NEVER CONNECT!! How can they change the wand-lore plot?? It is CENTRAL to the story and CRUCIAL to Harry defeating Voldemort AND surviving! At the end, the twin-cores are not being used, and Harry is master of the Elder wand, otherwise Harry dies. HOW CAN THEY CHANGE SUCH A CRUCIAL PLOT POINT?

Posted by rush2112 on June 29, 2010, 11:05 AM report to moderator

I was confused by the connecting wands, too, but have decided to trust that there is a logical explanation because the rest of the trailer is so amazing that I cannot stop watching it!!

@rotfang07: Theme Park Muzak? Are you kidding? Do you know anything about John Williams scoring ability? John Williams has been scoring films since 1958 and is The Master. He has scored 95 films to date, won 5 Academy Awards and 4 Golden Globes. He has been nominated for 21 Golden Globes, 59 Grammys and has 45 Oscar nominations. Go watch Schindler’s List, that should settle it once and for all.

Yeah I have to agree with rush2112 … John Williams is awesome. He is my favorite composer. The first soundtrack album that I ever bought was Jurassic Park, scored by John Williams. His music is beautiful (in my opinion)
Anyhows I love the trailer and, I totally squeed out loud. I’m hoping that any inconsistencies are just in the trailer in order to tell the story in two minutes. But, I love it so much that I can not complain lol
For anyone that cant get it to load, have you tried going to Leaky Video Galleries and using the link there?

@rush2112: rotfang07 doesn’t know how to comment on anything other than John Williams’ “inability to score”. And he/she will of course reply to your comment about Schindler’s List with “that movie is historically inaccurate”, as if that has ANYTHING to do with the music. Hooper’s musical efforts have been nothing more than adequate; they fit but do nothing more. Look around at the numerous film score review websites to read reviews of Hooper’s scores; they often have very low to average ratings. It’s what they deserve, in my opinion. If you listen to scores regularly, you’ll find that Hooper’s work has nothing interesting going on….it’s very basic instrumentation and orchestration, anonymous themes, sometimes even inappropriate for what’s happening on screen, and often simple chords held for long periods of time (Dumbledore’s death scene for example). The fact that John Williams is loud says nothing about his musical abilities, and if you listen to his entire catalog there are numerous examples of low-key scores. Rotfang just chooses to ignore those. Judging by his/her reaction to the generic music in the trailer (all action trailers use the apocalyptic choir these days), Hooper’s bland music is right up his/her alley. Rotfang seems to be under the impression that HP is an untouchable classic work that should be respected like Shakespeare, and therefore deserves stuffy English music with no flair. He dislikes anything from “Hollywood” – in terms of music, anything that’s memorable. Do you think general audiences remember ANY of Hooper’s music? No. It’s Williams’ themes they remember, and Williams’ orchestrations, because Williams has a voice – like it or not – and Hooper will never be remembered in the scoring community except as the guy who made Harry Potter dull.

I must say it was really amazing, it seems they gonna put really the important parts, though some stuff is changed, but I can take it, I’m not sure if they gonna show snape tale…

@rotfang07: please explain how Hooper’s scoring of Dumbledore’s “funeral” (the scene where everyone lifts up their wands) was not over-the-top? The music absolutely SWELLS to show everyone’s sadness. Is that not an obvious move to make, or any different than what Williams might have done?

Examples of low-key Williams:

Memoirs of a Geisha
The Terminal
Catch Me If You Can
War of the Worlds
Angela’s Ashes
Seven Years in Tibet
The River

Please research before making broad statements.

This looks AMAZING! Question…in the scene where Voldemort is holding Harry’s face, Harry looks like he is tied up in some type of green rope…any ideas as to what this could be or why Harry has it on?

Oh my god!!! That was totally action packed! It gave me chills just watching it! It looks EPIC! 10 years of Harry Potter coming to an end. It’s so sad but what a wild, wonderful, magical ride it’s been! I can’t wait to see this film!
