Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling has been included in a new list of the ten most influential women in Scotland, according to a new report in the Scotsman.  The paper reports that the honor was announced at the Action for Children Scotland Woman of Influence Awards, a charitable event which honored the ten women who have had a major impact on Scottish society.  Along with J. K. Rowling, such influential women as Violinist Nicola Benedetti, runner Liz McColgan, and Stagecoach co-founder Ann Gloag were also honored at the ceremony.  Dubbed the 'Perfect 10," the women were chosen by "a panel of the charity's committee members for their long-term impact in Scotland."

Congratulations to Jo! I think she’s one of the most influential women in the world, let alone Scotland. She’s certainly been one of the two most influential women in my life outside of my family (the other being a Ms. Melissa Anelli).

Congratulations JKR … she sure is one of the most influential people in Scotland and, in the world, too. Aside from her awesome books and what she has done for literacy, she has been a huge influence for charities, too. She gives a lot of her time and effort as well as her money. She is awesome.
