Nominations for “Half-Blood Prince” at Saturn Awards; Broadcasting Press Guild Nods to HP Actors

The “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” film, members of its creative team, and a number of actors have garnered a slew of nominations at two awards ceremonies. First, the 2010 Saturn Awards have been announced and include a nomination for the sixth Potter film in the Best Fantasy Film category, as well as nominations in the Best Costume (Jany Temime), Best Production Design (Stuart Craig), and Best Special Effects (Tim Burke, John Richardson, Nicholas Aithadi, Tim Alexander) categories. The Saturn Awards honor the best in sci-fi, horror, and fantasy films and are presented by the Academy Science Fiction Fantasy and Horror Films. The winners will be announced on June 24th. Secondly, the Broadcasting Press Guild TV Awards have released the nominees for their 2010 awards. Each year, members of the BPG “recognise outstanding programmes and performances seen or heard in the preceding year.” Nominees in the Best Actor Category for their 36th award ceremony include actor Brendan Gleeson (Mad Eye Moody) for “Into the Storm,” David Tennant (Barty Crouch) for “Hamlet” and “Doctor Who,” Ciaran Hinds (Aberforth Dumbledore) for “Above Suspicion,” Timothy Spall (Wormtail) for “The Fattest Man in Britain,” and John Hurt (Ollivander) for “An Englishman in New York.” In the running for Best Actress are Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) for “Enid” and Julie Walters (Molly Weasley) for “A Short Stay in Switzerland” and “Victoria Wood’s Midlife Christmas.”
