There are now only 23 days left until "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I" hits theaters! We are posting a quote from the first half of the book every day in celebration and to give us a chance to discuss and ponder the final book as it goes to film. Here is today's quote!
" . . . There will be seven Harry Potters moving through the skies tonight, each of them with a companion, each pair heading for a different safe house."
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, "The Seven Potters"
Ah ha! I have figured out why Harry “letting Hedwig go” just seems so wrong. Even beyond the obvious lack of loss for Harry (losing yet another piece of his childhood and of Hogwarts), it implies that the only reason Hedwig comes back after hunting is because she has to. The only reason she hangs out with Harry is because she’s forced to. That just seems terribly wrong to me—-she shouldn’t be able to find him anywhere he goes just because of a magical tie (slavery?). She should want to—-like those cats and dogs that cross the States to find the owners that moved away without them.
Totally tangential to the quotation but I’m still glad I figured it out.

:D so excited! I can’t wait to see this scene in full, it was such a dramatic moment in the book and I hope they’ve done it justice. If nothing else, the transformation into the Seven Potters is hilarious.
First! I would like to see that on the big screen. 22 days to go…………..
