Potential nominations for the "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" film continue to be in the air, as the BAFTA organization has included the sixth Potter film in their longlist of potential nominees in a total of seven categories.  The British Academy Film and Television Arts list of the first round picks by the 6,000 academy voters included the Potter film as a potential nominee in the Make Up and Hair, Special Visual Effects, Sound, Costume Design, Production Design, and Cinematography categories.  Actor Alan Rickman, who portrays the character of Severus Snape, has been longlisted in the Supporting Actor category for his work on the film.

On a related note, actor Timothy Spall (Wormtail) was also longlisted in Supporting Actor category for his role in "The Damned United," while Emma Thompson (Professor Trelawney) was longlisted for Supporting Actress for "An Education."  The full Film Awards Longlist may be found right here in PDF format.  The final list of BAFTA nominees will be announced on January 21st.

Many thanks to Wilson for owling!

I hope HBP wins some! Also, I hope that the actors who are in HP win stuff for their other movies too. It is great hearing about the other roles that they play and how the differ from their HP roles.

Was so hoping Jim Broadbent would get a nomination :( But yay to the rest! It definitely deserves noms for production design, FX (tho it won’t win that one), supporting actor, make up and hair and cinematography.

Oh come on, Alan Rickman hasn’t a chance in hell of even being nominated, let alone actually winning. These just aren’t the kind of films that win BAFTAs & Oscars – except in the technical categories, of course. Awards go to “serious” films, not kids’ blockbusters. HP will almost certainly win things at awards shows voted for by the public (and linked to by fan sites, which is why things like the Teen Choice and People’s Choice Awards are no guarantee of quality, only popularity). Anyone who seriously thinks HBP or any of the HP films are ever going to win any acting/ directing/ scriptwriting awards needs their head examined.
