Earlier this year we reported that Amazon France was offering a limited "Prestige edition" collection of Harry Potter DVDs housed in a special container set at the base of a replica of Hogwarts. Today, the French Amazon website has been updated with the news that this set containing DVDs of all six Harry Potter films, including Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will be released on November 16, 2009. Also the regular editions of the discs, Standard, Blu-Ray, Double DVD (note: these show different cover art than the UK editions released last week) contain November 18th and a November 25th release date. As readers will recall, the latest reports had a HBP DVD release date of December 8th here in the US, so we do not know if this means we may seen a bumped up release date for the disc, why there are so many different dates for the French release of Half-Blood Prince DVDs, or what all this may mean. We are trying to learn more and will update when we can.
The Prestige collection of French language Harry Potter DVDs appears to contain the Noble Collection replica of Hogwarts (or something quite like it), along with a velvet drawer with slots for all the DVDs, including two spots for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows DVDs. It is currently available for pre-order in Standard and Blu-ray formats.
Thanks Tracy!

It is very cool looking, and I like the idea of the extra slots for the 2 DH movies. But I think I will also wait for the exteneded collector’s edition before I buy another collection. I will buy HBP in the meantime, though!

Amazing set with the Hogwarts castle but I still don’t get why they are releasing these sets before the last movies are even out yet?! I, like many people, are just going to wait until all the movies are released before I get a set like that.

Well of course I’m in the waiting-til-all-8-are-out-before-buying-a-box-set camp. (Til all 8 are out, that still sounds weird) But this set is incredible, I’d wait til I had a permanent residence before buying, I’d hate to have to move that around every year.
On the DVD release side of things it might like OOTP again where we get it over here in November and US gets it in December. Which I’m really hoping for, I can’t be the only person who acquaints November with Harry Potter

i rest my case you lot need ya heads seeing to this is just another ploy to fill the big bosses at warner bros pockets. use ya brains wait till the final box set comes out it will have more to it and all the deleted scenes will be included. whats the point in having 4 versions of the same movies total waste of mone save ya cash and wait for the movies to finish then buy the dvd boxset 1-8. has anyone got brains on this site.

First, I am assuming that these discs are the French Region which means they WILL NOT play in England or the U.S. If I knew how much that fr means in American Dollars I might be tempted to get it anyway since it does have those two empty slots and I could just put my US version in and take out the French discs and get rid of them. But, how do we know that expected big deluxe extended, etc, set won’t be on more than one disc, with all the extras they will add in. So those big sets may not fit. It’s a damning thing. I will wait and see. But I do love the look of this box and castle and it even has a clear plastic display case lid to protect as well. It’s an amazing package and I am willing to be the US version will be nowhere near this.

I agree with jaiboi2. I have the first two for VHS, and the first five for DVD, and that’s it. I’m waiting for the “Special Magical Deluxe Extended OMGLYKESRSLY” Editions to come out before buying a boxset of all of the movies.
