Last week we heard from author Ian Rankin who gave an update of sorts regarding the long awaited Scottish book or Harry Potter encyclopedia from J.K. Rowling. As noted before, Mr. Rankin said the last time he saw his neighbor and friend, Jo was "was working on her Harry Potter encyclopedia" and "drawing family trees for all the characters, going back generations." Today, the Sunday Mail has more from the attorney for J.K. Rowling who cautions the book is not due for release in the near future. Neil Blair is quoted as saying: "The encyclopaedia simply remains something Ms Rowling would like to complete sometime in the future."

However the tabloid goes on to interview an unnamed "insider" who reportedly said: "Everyone hopes it comes to fruition. "Even though the original Harry fans are now adults the obsession remains and this would be a huge seller."Obviously she is under no pressure and can pick and choose her projects but Harry is more than just another character for her."

The piece then says that in terms of a release for the Scottish book "The timing of the books will be important as the final two Harry Potter films are due out in 2010 and 2011."

If takes longer, that just means it will be even better than if she rushed through it just so we could have it…

It does not matter when the book is published. We as fans should give J.K. Rowling the freedom and time she needs to be flexible in compiling and composing this work. Whenever the Scottish Book, it is sure to be fantastic.

I’d like to have it to look forward to once the 8th film is out and over and no longer exciting.

Of course it’s obviously up to Jo, but that’s when I’d like it most.

Like everyone else, I’m real excited for this book, however long we have to wait for it. All the little hints and clues about it just make it even more fascinating. it will be so cool if she really is drawing family trees for all the characters.

This sounds perfect! I will wait…I don’t care if I have to wait until I’m 30…as long as I own that book before I die!

Imagine looking at Fudge’s family trees…or a character that we don’t see as much in the actual books. That would make the Harry Potter world even more complex which would be all the more exciting!

I think it’d be so cool if the encyclopedia came on in 2017, like on May 2 on the anniversary of the final battle or September 1, Albus’s first day at Hogwarts. 19 years later!- that would be so beautiful!

I really want to read the book, but i hope it comes after both deathly hallows, so it can be the final harry potter installment (sort of :P), and we can still have something to look foward to after the films :)
