Actor Jason Isaacs was a guest today on BBC radio with Mark Kermode Live Five program where he discussed his role as Lucius Malfoy in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He confirms he has completed filming on Malfoy Manor, and notes he will be back in a month or so to film those dramatic scenes with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). In a very reflective interview highlighting his true appreciation of the series by J.K. Rowling, Jason speaks of the humiliation Lucius Malfoy endures in Deathly Hallows, noting the character has his legs cut out beneath him and suffers "a pretty nasty fall from grace," also remarking that Lucius loses his wand. Jason also weighs in on Half-Blood Prince, where he gives his thoughts on the differences that place in the film and script versus the novel involving Harry being frozen on the Astronomy tower. He also says that the split point of DH is indeed a 'cliffhanger' but declines to reveal the point as all actors are legally bound not to reveal this, as they have signed a confidentially agreement. Just think how things would would have been different if Voldemort had logically taken Draco’s wand instead of taking Lucius’ out of spite. He would have had allegiance of The Elder Wand from the beginning of DH.

I love Isaacs as Lucius, he has totally made that character! As for the split they can’t tell us what it is, my best guess would be in Malfoy Manner, while Harry/Ron locked in the basement(?) and Hermione being tortured upstairs by Bellatrix, and all we hear is her screams. To me it’s one of the best places to stop, and to make those who’ve never read the books to cry with envy as to what happens.
Either way, looking forward to seeing Lucius again.

sounds great, i really cant wait till DH. im probably gonna absolutely hate the fact that the split is gonna be a cliff-hanger (despite reading the book 10000000000 times. but u know wat i mean, its gonna be annoying)

i think he loved Harry Potter too. he’s really into it, and he’s a great Lucius Malfoy, too. He’s really amazing, just like the rest of the Harry Potter cast

I love Jason Isaacs. <3 I also love hearing him talk about Potter because he’s such a fan! Like one of us! Hehe. The movies wouldn’t be as good if he wasn’t in them. Glad he’s back.
Also, “all actors are legally bound not to reveal this, as they have signed a confidentially agreement.” Umm… hasn’t somebody already let slip where the split is?? Or was that just a hoax? :( I hope not because that’s exactly where I wanted the film to be split! confused

I heard he actually dropped to his knees and asked JKR to break Malfoy Sr out of prison in the seventh book so he could be in the movie. :) Her reply was “You’re out. Chapter 1.”
