As a follow to our post yesterday on the piracy of Harry Potter films, such as the recent Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, CNN has a new video online where actors Dan Radcliffe (Harry) and Emma Watson (Hermione) express their dismay over the piracy and illegal downloading and file sharing of their Harry Potter films. Potter producer David Heyman also comments on the rampant piracy taking place with many films, noting that it not only hurts sales but also affects budgets for future films and more.
Thanks to Katie and CNN!

this is horrible. no if’s and’s or but’s, this was definitely illegal and uncalled for, we can all wait until this installment is released on DVD/Blu-ray it won’t kill us. this shows disrespect towards everybody who worked extremely hard to make this film for us.

Is there really more piracy for this movie than any other? I don’t condone it by any stretch, but I am aware that it exists… and I am just wondering if the proportion for this movie is similar to the pirated proportion of other films? (ie., is it just normal business??)
I would imagine that most of us at Leaky are anti-piracy… knowing how we all feel about spoilers… we like to wait for our content and it is always well worth the wait! Speaking of…. have we heard about any HBP DVD extras yet??? (Speaking of the OFFICIAL DVD of course.)

What GardenStateGeek said. I also think we should call it what it is: theft, not ‘sharing’. Seriously, how can you share something that wasn’t even yours to begin with?

The piracy of movies, music, and books is the theft of creativity and talent all over the world. When you purchase pirated items you are literally stealing from the actors, producers, all the way down to the guy who brought the coffee.
I hate pirates. I support ninjas instead!
