A followup today regarding the legal case involving actor Jamie Waylett (Crabbe), who earlier this month plead guilty to growing cannabis plants at a residence in London, England. Today, the AP reports that Jamie was sentenced to to 120 hours of community service. The report continues: Judge Timothy Workman said Tuesday that he accepted that the cultivation was on a small scale and for Waylett's own use. He said the actor had been, "until now, a man of good character."
UPDATE: The BBC has more now on the matter, including a message from Jamie: "Leaving the court, Waylett said: "I extend my sincere apologies to the
producers, cast and crew and all at Warners and most especially to all
Harry Potter fans."

Hmm… no comment. He could have done something worse though?

Don’t get me wrong I think it’s good that he didn’t get in MAJOR trouble. But would a “normal” person have got the same. Justice? :/

I think this is a good sentence. I have no opinion on smoking pot either way – I don’t think it’s horrible, but I don’t encourage it – I do think that since it IS illegal, it was quite stupid of him, someone in one of the biggest film franchises, to do it. :\

wow if your famous you can get away with anything!! how is it that Jamie Waylett “the star” only got community service while the normal person, wrong as his crimes were got a custodial sentence! Good to see justice is thriving in Britain! I wish they don’t use him in the last film, he does not deserve it!

I hope that he learned something from this….
It baffles me to no end that so many people think the kid shouldn’t work anymore because he had some weed in his closet. THAT’S IT HIS LIFE IS OVER! Might as well put him out on the streets so he can feel hopeless about everything and do MORE illegal things because he is left with no alternative. I hope you people accidentally hit someone with a car and end up having no job, after all you wouldn’t deserve a place in life anymore, filthy murdering castaways!

Ummm, he’s 20, which, though young, is not a kid. I think his sentence is fair for a first offense of this kind. I just hope he’s not silly enough to do it again. As for DH, they change things around so much that who knows who starts the fiend fire and if it kills anybody at all. When they go so far off the book as to burn the burrow to the ground, you never know what the next film will hold.
Splitting hairs doesn’t make my point invalid. It doesn’t really matter if I perceive him as a child. The point is that people do not deserve to be cast aside for such things.

Poor Jamie. I hope his family are alright and coping well with it all. The judge seems to have been pretty fair and Jamie appears to be handling the situation well. I wouldn’t be surprised if WB had swooped in to make sure that everything was hastily taken care of.

I think the punishment fit the crime. For those of you who say he got off to easy while his friend didn’t, they both got in trouble. The only reason why he didn’t get into too much was because the knife. I would sentence someone who was doing drugs and had a weapon longer too. Frankly this was hyped up too much.
Happy Birthday Jamie, today was a good day with a good sentence.
I’m going to kick my friend who swore to me that he got 17 years. What the crap.

They seized his camera for taking pictures of police as they drove by? And that is considered terrorist activity?
I do have to say, growing 10 plants in your mom’s house is no genious move. And taking pictures and carrying the camera around with you is another dopey move. Hmm…ya think that’s why they call it dope.
Don’t worry, people. It was only for Herbology class at Hogwarts.
Hmm… no comment. He could have done something worse though?
