The Wall Street Journal is reporting today they have confirmed with the Chief Executive of Imax reports that there will be a delay in the release of the IMAX and IMAX 3D versions of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince here in the US. When WB first delayed the HBP film last fall, among the many problems it created was a scheduling problem for IMAX and the new Transformers film, thereby forcing Harry Potter fans to wait and see the sixth Harry Potter fans two weeks after the general release of the film. Fans can now see Half-Blood Prince in IMAX July 29. The paper reports this scheduling "means most Imax theaters will show "Harry Potter" starting July 29,
two weeks after its July 14 opening in conventional theaters, the
company confirmed. Richard Gelfond, Imax chief executive, said at least one Imax
theater in New York and another in Los Angeles are scheduled to play
"Harry Potter" starting July 14; the dates for international theaters
are still being negotiated.
He added that it's a "high-class" problem to have, given that the
first 12 minutes of "Harry Potter" will be exclusively in Imax 3D and a
few scenes of "Transformers" were shot with Imax cameras, and those are
features that have been popular with audiences in the past.
Thanks to Jeff Dodge from TV Watch Online who emailed TLC and all the Harry Potter sites with this news. We are still awaiting word from WB as well and will update with that when we can.

well at least it’s only in IMAX i guess, and even though everyone is going to see this movie more than once, it still sucks. then again, it would suck even more if they pushed the date even further… at least i have my tickets for midnight in Miami already!! =D

yeah im pretty sure HBP was filmed with IMAX cameras. if not, then im at least pretty sure DH was filmed with IMAX cameras. but still, it all goes back to WB changing the release date from November to July. as immature as it may seem, im still not over that.

You guys really need to educate yourselves before ranting against WB. It’s not their fault, okay? IMAX signed a contract with Paramount, and WB had no way of knowing about it when they changed HBP’s release date to July 17 (now July 15).

Erg….Warner Brothers™ is like the horrible mother who continues to promise her son a puppy, but never does so…
WB is quickly becoming the procrastinator of movie companies. Either they start following through on their promises, or that release date at the end of their trailers will mean nothing to viewers…

IMAX is a scam! If you pay extra money to see a movie on an IMAX screen, the movie better well fill the screen! I’ve seen the last Batman movie in IMAX (only a few scenes filled the screen) and Night at the Museum 2 in IMAX (not one bit of it filled the screen). Does anyone know if HP was filmed with IMAX cameras??

Do we know what IMAX theater will be showing it in LA on the release date? I’ll be watching it at midnight at the regular theater, but I wanted to watch it on IMAX that afternoon. I better buy tickets soon if that’s the only theater that’s going to be showing it! Bummer..

Looking at it in WB’s perspective, that’s double the money from the hard-core HP fans! I know I want to see the IMAX 3D version…Oh, well, it’s not the ENTIRE movie is being moved up!!! Sorry Azkatraz people!
omg!! another delay! gosh WB! U R NOT GETTING A GOOD RAP FROM THE FANS FOR THIS!!!!!!
