Rebel, Rebel: Jason Isaacs Talks Trio of Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson

Actor Jason Isaacs has made some new comments about his young Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows co-stars, praising how Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have handled fame and life in the spotlight. In his typical lighthearted gracious and humorous fashion, Jason joked "that the films would have benefitted if their young stars had been more rebellious. "The problem with Harry Potter is that there is so little controversy," he complained at the first night of Sister Act, the West End musical. "It would be so great for the press if one of them would go off the rails and end up in rehab, but they are, actually, just really sweet guys."

In the interview with The Telegraph, Jason Isaacs also continued to speak about the bright future ahead for the Trio, noting:

"They can fall backwards on their mountains of cash," he said. "It doesn't matter. They're really talented and they've got each other as close friends, which is all that matters because no one else has been through the same thing.

"What is amazing about them is that they are still respectful and have humility and work ethic. I have met and sometimes worked with their American equivalents and they have none of those things.

"Daniel will potentially be a great director or producer. He's very interested in behind-the-camera work. Remember, they have spent more hours in front of the camera in the last decade than most people have in their entire career."

Unfortunately in the UK, mountains of cash = mountains of taxes!

I agree that the three young Harry Potter actors seem very well adjusted, humble and have good work ethics. However, not all young American actors fall out of that category – you just hear constantly about the ones that do. We’ve seem some fully grown now like Ron Howard, Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, Brooke Shields who stayed humble and sane through the growing years and continued with their careers into adulthood. We have some new younger stars such as Abigail Breslin, Dakota Fanning, and, as much as people like to dump on him – Zac Effron, who, by all accounts, is hardworking, pleasant, humble, and working hard at trying to be a better actor.

Yes. Even after all the fame and publicity, they still maintain a brilliant level of acting and are really just down to earth people.

Jason Isaacs was just speaking from his own experience when he said that young American actors lack humility and a good work ethic so I don’t understand why folks are offended… also, why does it seem that so many American posters on Leaky are so thin skinned?

And this comming from an American!

Haha! That’s is great. I’m super happy for the actors that they’ve maintained a good work ethic and aren’t like many of their American counterpart. Does anybody know what the paparazzi are like in Europe? Compared to the US? I have wondered how different it is, and how much that effects celebrities.

Cool interview! And he’s right about the trio having the British professionalism that so few American child/teen stars possess. I’d love to see Dan as a director!

funny if you think about it. How much defrient is it there compared to here. It is sadley true that most kids that have been in movies most of there life they have gone down a not so good road. All three of them seam to be totaly awesome as normal so bravo…

I think it is so important that the trio and for that matter so many of the others, have maintained a good image and are so down to earth – I don’t think I could ever watch the movies if they behaved liek Linday Lohan or other spoiled American “stars”
