Actor Jason Isaacs has made some new comments about his young Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows co-stars, praising how Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have handled fame and life in the spotlight. In his typical lighthearted gracious and humorous fashion, Jason joked "that the films would have benefitted if their young stars had been more
rebellious. "The problem with Harry Potter is that there is so little
controversy," he complained at the first night of Sister Act,
the West End musical. "It would be so great for the press if one of
them would go off the rails and end up in rehab, but they are,
actually, just really sweet guys."
In the interview with The Telegraph, Jason Isaacs also continued to speak about the bright future ahead for the Trio, noting:
"They can fall backwards on their mountains of cash," he said. "It
doesn't matter. They're really talented and they've got each other as
close friends, which is all that matters because no one else has been
through the same thing.
"What is amazing about them is that
they are still respectful and have humility and work ethic. I have met
and sometimes worked with their American equivalents and they have none
of those things.
"Daniel will potentially be a great director
or producer. He's very interested in behind-the-camera work. Remember,
they have spent more hours in front of the camera in the last decade
than most people have in their entire career."

Expanding on what HP Fan for Life said, one huge difference is that the trio aren’t working in Hollywood, and if you don’t think that makes a massive difference, you’ve never been to L.A. By working in England, they have been very sheltered compared to what American child actors have to deal with. That being said, their humility and work ethic are laudable, and I don’t mean to diminish that by any means. I just think that it’s sad the way the Hollywood machine often destroys young actors and turns them into Lindsays.

i love how jason is like the nicest guy in the world, but he always ends up playing such deliciously evil characters. It takes a tremendous amount of talent to play so many diff. villians, esp. when you’re so naturally generous!

Some people have mentioned some very good examples of American child stars who are humble. I would like to add a few more to that list (some who are now grown). To wit: Michael J. Fox, Kurt Cameron and Haley Joel Osment. Of course we have some who have grown up to be not so humble. Christian Bale comes to mind…. Oh wait, he’s British.
I’m not trying to condemn Jason Isaacs. I do admire his work. But he shouldn’t have said that. Everybody thinks their tribe is inherently better.

That’s because we are Mudbloods.

I love Jason Isaacs, too. He is great. Could’ve done without the American dis, but whatev. He was trying to give the Trio a nice compliment, and I think his sense of humor maybe just didn’t translate well in this case.

Just couldn’t resist a little jab at Americans. That was completely unnecessary to say. I get it, British good, Americans bad. Go ahead Jason, tell us what you really think.

Regarding what Jason said about American child actors, Daniel has mentioned this subject before in interviews as well. He said that in England, child actors are treated still as children first and actors second. He said that in America, child actors are seen as actors first and treated as such and regarded as children second. That would seem to be true. The kids get used to being “worshiped” and get the enlarged ego that goes along with that attention and behave accordingly. It really is great to see that these three young people, and the other supporting young actors as well, seem to all be very grounded and appreciative of what they have been allowed the opportunity to do. They do not seem to have taken any of it for granted. They also seem to have a clear plan for their future when you read or watch interviews they give. Many American child stars should look to them as their own role models and behave accordingly.

I don’t agree with this rebel thing! I think that they should stay this way, because, as Mr. Isaac said, the American actors live in their world, and think they are the center of the universe!!! I REALLY don’t wanna see one of them in Rehab!!! It will be horrible! they are unique, because aren’t crazy with money!!! I love the way they are!!! As Mr. Isaac said they have humility, respectful, and ethic! I love that!!! =)
