JK Rowling and the Magic Flying Piggy Bank for Charity

J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling contributed to a charity fundraiser auction that took place over the weekend in London that involved piggy banks. In writing that would no doubt make the Weasley Wheezes proud, Jo contributed a specially designed piggy bank, and The Daily Mail reports " etched a special message  -  'Magic pigs can fly'  -  on the side of hers." This auction was in benefit of PiggyBankKids, a charity founded by the wife of the UK Prime Minister after the death of their premature child to "seek solutions to pregnancy difficulties and save newborn lives." We hope to have photos from the event, more when can.

I really admire how Jo not only writes about a better world, she actually does something about it. Not many people can say they do that. Way to Go!

This is so sweet and generous of her. She is a model of giving that we all should strive to emulate.

Things like this are why I respect JK more than any other author. Well this and the actual works themselves.

It’s too bad other “celebrities” don’t take a page from JKR’s book of giving. She is an amazing woman and to paraphrase so many others: I would love to have the opportunity to meet her; to thank her for all that she’s done through her writing and through her generous nature to give back. She has touched the lives of billions of people…not many people can say that!

Guess That Book

"R -- r-- riddikulus!" squeaked Neville.[br]There was a noise like a whip crack. Snape stumbled; he was wearing a long, lace-trimmed dress and a towering hat topped with a moth-eaten vulture, and he was swinging a huge crimson handbag.
