May Issue of "The Quibbler" Now Online
LeakyFor the month of May, the newest edition of The Quibbler, which contains "all the news you won't find anywhere else," takes a slightly different tone and honors those in the Harry Potter story that have fallen. This issue takes you behind the veil as we come upon the eleventh anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts where so many brave souls perished. In this issue, we take you through the memories of that night, honor those who have fallen, award the Fred Weasley Award for Mischief Making, and share with Luna Lovegood her personal losses suffered during that year. In addition, this issue has a few letters to the Editor and a few personal messages from the readers. Each issue also contains a number of lighter games, puzzles, recipes, and much more. This issue is available for download in PDF form right here, or in a zipped file via this link.

JuleBlue—you are certainly right to raise the question of dates. Our understanding of the dates is based on the 500th anniversary of Nearly Headless Nick’s execution being set in the books as October of 1492, meaning that year two of Harry’s Hogwarts experience would have been 1992-1993. With that date, His first year becomes 1991-1992. This seems to be about the only specific date within the texts that connects the events in the story to the world outside the story. Of course there are some problems in dating things, not only on an overall basis but within particular books. As a general rule, we try to follow the things written within the texts themselves, recognizing that problems exist. We certainly hope we haven’t spoiled anyone’s enjoyment in doing this.
In any case, thanks for reading the Quibbler! We really appreciate your concern.
