We have some troubling news to report tonight regarding one of the actors in the Harry Potter films. Stemming originally from a UK tabloid, world wide media have now carried the story that actor Jamie Waylett, who portrays actor Vincent Crabbe in the beloved film series, was arrested on charges of possessing an illegal substance. A rep for Scotland Yard told the BBC that police made the arrest after searching a car carrying 19 year old Jamie and a friend. "The car was searched and officers found eight bags of a substance believed to be cannabis," he said.
The report then goes on to state a search of the Waylett's home produced additional cannabis in the form of ten plants. "Officers found a number of plants believed to be cannabis plants and equipment for the cultivation," Scotland Yard said "Both men have been bailed until July pending further inquiries and tests on the substances."
MTV also points out that "Waylett, who has become a "Harry Potter" fan favorite, emerged from
massive casting calls in the early part of the decade to land his role.
A Slytherin student, Vincent Crabbe serves as one of Draco Malfoy's
minions but is as helped by his size as he is fatally flawed by his
dimness. An accomplice to the Death Eaters, Crabbe's wizard powers —
and his distaste for Harry — increase throughout the "Potter" series."
Readers will recall of course that Jamie Waylett is a long time friend to us here at Leaky. As distressing as this news is for us personally as we do believe this to be accurate, we can only imagine how upsetting this news is for his family, close friends, and of course his fans. At this time we do not know how this may impact his future role in the Harry Potter series, with filming ongoing for Deathly Hallows, and notably his involvement in the future filming of the dramatic scenes involving Crabbe in the Room of Requirement. Warner Bros has declined to comment as of now on this matter, and we are continuing to work to learn more on this report; more when we get it!

Oh, c’mon, Scotland Yard, it’s just pot. It’s even less damaging to your body than tobacco. Where I live, it’s legal to be in possession and to cultivate for personal use- looks like it isn’t the same up there. I can’t really believe he was selling, pot is cheap, and surely he makes a lot more by working in a huge franchise like HP. Maybe the one selling was a roommate, and they’ll let him go. Let’s hope he won’t have to do time; it’d be awful both for him and for the film.

Pot is quite dangerous it is linked with mental illiness so people saying that its not really a big deal kinda is.
That being said its sad that he and his family and friends have to deal with this.

Personally, I think “pot” should be treated like alcohol. Dangerous behavior under the influence is the regulated (not legal) element for adults, not the alcohol itself. It is still a concern that since the weed is illegal, life just got way more complicated for Mr. Waylett. I hope things get sorted out for him without any worse than an education.

he’s a teen and he does pot. thats really not that bad but it sucks that he got caught, I hope that this works out for him
If movie studios fired all the actors who did drugs, there would be no movies.

Quick, everyone up on their high horse. The Harry Potter franchise and WB is for every equated with promoting using drugs! Come on, who cares?

even though weed is a controlled substance, it is generally thought that it shouldn’t be. So I think that we should Free Jamie Waylett like we freed Micheal Phelps.

I would like to distance myself from all the idiots here who are saying, “What’s the problem, man. It’s only pot.” There is no ONLY about it. Do some research. Read a little.

I heard the news on the radio while I was driving, with the teaser: “Harry Pothead?” and immediately feared that it was one of the trio. I was shocked to hear it was Jamie, but the thought did immediately cross my mind that it was good casting in that growing and selling pod expressed the expediency of Slytherin….
I don’t know much about British law, but I hope they let him finish filming DH!

Sorry – I meant selling pot, of course!

But it IS only pot. The only real reason why you shouldn’t do it is because it is, yes, against the law in Britain, or if you’re planning to operate any heavy machinery in the near future.
I mean, I would support not smoking weed, but making, like, healthy granola bars out of it, because smoking anything is bad for your lungs and brownies have way too many calories.
But in the context of the world, it really is just a nonlethal plant with some bonus side effects.
In the context of a movie star being arrested, then it REALLY is just pot, because, as many have said already, it could have been so much worse, and this is pretty much the tamest thing he could be arrested for.
Also, we’re on our last movie, and this is the first time something like this has happened? That’s flobberwormin’ impressive right there. The only reason nothing like this happened with the LotR movies is because there weren’t many child actors, and WETA Workshop is practically its own tiny nation.

My heart is breaking for Jamie and his family. I hope he can shake this off and put it behind him quickly.
