Jo's Book Nook, the home of our non-Harry Potter Book Club, has now opened the communal reading of the first novel in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Fellowship of the Ring. Located in our Leaky Lounge forum, Jo's Book Nook offers all registered Lounge members the opportunity to join in with their fellow Book Clubbers to discuss the many details of this most lush and layered fantasy novel. The reading of The The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring starts today and runs through May 2nd. Be sure to jump into the discussions today over on the Leaky Lounge.
On a related note, voting is now open to choose the next reading selection for Jo's Book Nook via this link.
Enjoy!

I will be joining in the discussion when I can! I also love that the Leaky-Cauldron.org shows people other good series of fantasy out there. Harry Potter will always be the best though, because nothing can top HP!

Well, it’s not really a novel per se (it’s more of an epic written in novel form), and it’s not the first, either: remember that the publishing company divided Tolkien’s tale into 3 volumes without his permission! (The name “Fellowship of the Ring” was created by someone at HM, not Tolkien: and don’t get him started on “The Two Towers”!)

I have a copy of the “Fellowship of the Ring” that I take into restaurants to wait for seating, service, and enjoy with the meal. I have a definine image with the different scenes, but after seeing the films, there really is room for imagination to fill in the details. To spooky moony: do watch out for spoilers.

Um, isn’t it the author’s job to describe his/her imagination to us? I’m paying them to be imaginative: I can be imaginative for free on my own time!
(Shorthand: the more left to the reader’s imagination, the worse the writing.)
