There is more today on location filming that will take place on the coastline of Wales for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Previously we told you a location in South Pembrokeshire had been selected to be the site of the emotion Shell Cottage scenes. Today, Wales Online reports this filming will take place shortly after Easter, with crews due to be in the Freshwater West coastline section of Wales for some 50 days to do construction. According to the piece, "a set will be built in Pembroke Dock and moved to a site in the dunes."
Main filming for the scenes would take place over six days, and "was planned for early May."
Anyone who is in the area, please send in your photos and reports!
Full quotage as follows:
A report looking into bringing the film crew to the area was
presented to the National Park’s development management committee last
week. Members welcomed the potential benefits the films could bring to the area.
The
report stated: “There are obvious spin-offs, both in the immediate
input into the economy and raising the profile of the area, which may
encourage others to visit.” Planning officer Cathy Milner said:
“It’s a huge bonus for Pembrokeshire. There’s the input of the finance,
and it will also raise the county’s profile.” Ms Milner said Freshwater
West had captured the film makers’ imagination and six days’ filming
was planned for early May.The Harry Potter crew is expected to
be in the area for 50 days. A set will be built in Pembroke Dock and
moved to a site in the dunes.

Just that fact that they’re including Shell Cottage is amazing! I agree withthe fact that this does not mean that the split is after this scene. They’re probably filming this now because is more convenient, not because it’ll go on movie 1.
And now I really wanna see some R-Hr goodness!

6 days isn’t much time for the whole scene set in the book. I’m betting they take it through Dobby’s death and end it there with the next film picking up at Shell Cottage and the plans to break into Gringott’s. Part 1 ends with a Climax (albeit very sad) and the next part starts in a some what calm state of the story. Just a though, though.

do we know if they’re filming everything together and then chopping it up like in lord of the rings or are they just filming the 1st movie and then the 2nd…
because if they’re filming it in order of the movie, does this make frak’s “gringotts to the end” movie wish come true?

Wow .. this is kind of cool news, they’re building a set & taking it there? That would maybe be Shell Cottage itself? I know there was already news about this location being used for filming the Shell Cottage scenes but, it’s still exciting :)

I think they are taking advantage of the weather for the time of year. It is much more costly to fake spring in any other season especially if thy are showing panoramic landscape type shots to set the atmosphere.
All of the scenes inside Shell Cottage would be cheaper and easier to shoot on a soundstage.
I have just finished that part of DH again and the only really important scenes outside are the arrival and Dobby’s death then funeral and then the next important scene is when they leave. There are one or two with Harry sitting outside looking at the water and one of Luna and Dean bringing in drift wood and speaking to Harry.
So, I think 6 days for the exterior shots and those very few scenes is quite doable.
Besides, they will probably cut out the scene with Luna and Dean. ;)

i’m hoping they are just filming out of order and shell cottage is in part 2.. because that would make for too much to fit in part 1! either way, it’s awesome that they are including these scenes in the first place.
