Tom Felton: No Confirmation Yet on Aging for Deathly Hallows Epilogue
December 09, 2009, 06:11 PM
Several times in the past, cast members have discussed the possibility of playing themselves 19 years in the future for the epilogue to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. MTV has a new interview online tonight with actor Tom Felton who says he has not had confirmation yet on how that scene will be handled. Quotage:
"For the big-screen adaptation, does that mean older actors will portray
Harry and the rest of the grown-up students? Or that the young stars
will be aged through makeup effects or CGI technology? No decision has been made, according to Tom Felton, who plays
peroxide-blond villain Draco Malfoy. "We haven't shot that yet, and I
still haven't had the confirmation whether I'm doing it or we're going
to get someone else to do it," he told MTV News while promoting the DVD
for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." "I haven't heard too
much. I guess they're still making decisions about it now. It is a very
exciting scene. I know Daniel [Radcliffe] and I have talked about it
and said it'd be a lot of fun to do."
Tom later weighed in with more: "While Felton joked that he'd be cool with having Brad Pitt or Leonardo
DiCaprio step in to play an adult Draco, the British actor maintained
that he's looking forward to seeing what he will look like 19 years in
the future. "It'd be kind of freaky to see what they come up with," he
I hope that they have Dan, Emma, Rupert, and Tom play themselves!!
The original actors HAVE to do it. It would be mean so much more to the fans, since we have grown so attached to them as these characters.
i don’t think it will be cheesy, abandonedboyjon, not if they show that the prejudice of the world still exists. This was hinted at in the book, the animosity is still there with the Malfoys, Slytherin still has a baddie rep, etc. It wouldn’t all be light and airy-fairy!
I will be mad if they don’t use the orginal actors….i’m not saying it would setroy the story or the fim to use new actors though. It probably wouldn’t. But it would be disrespectful to the primary cast (Dan, Emma, Rupert) who worked so hard for over ten years!
They can do amazing things in makeup…
first of all, Leo and brad aren’t British, so there’s not even the slightest chance of that. and second, it would be beyond stupid to change actors when this franhise has done everything it could to keep Dan, Rupert and Emma on. that is one of the biggest pulls for the hp movies! that said, I still think they should cut the epilogue. might not be a popular idea, but unless the make up and effects are totally seemless, this could end up a big ball of cheese.
It wouldn’t be the same without Dan, Emma, Rupert, Bonnie didn’t do it! I really hope they just age the original characters…
i REALLY hope its the original actors. i dont see why they wouldnt? with all the effects and cgi they have, they deff would be able too. id be so upset to see the movie end with random adults and not the kids we have grown up to love.
Originals definitely for the epilogue!! Anything else would be a waste.
I think the original actors should do it… theyve grown up so much anyway, it wouldnt take much to make them look a bit older!
I have no particular feeling about which method they will use to film the epilogue since I’ve seen good and bad versions of both methods. Hopefully the technology is advanced enough to support whatever decision the director/producer make.
I hope they age the actors coz they will be more emotional with the scene than random actors.
I hope they use the same actors, especially considering it would be the last scene we ever saw of Harry Potter. It just wouldn’t feel right if they used different people.
Aurora Duv, if Jade is doing the role of older Astoria Greengrass is true, that would be really cute, and very believable
it also makes me think if Felton would like the “receding hair” better than the usual bleached one
Oh come on, Tom is almost old enough anyway!
i can’t wait
