A press release from Canadian book retailer Indigo Books & Music Inc. has ranked Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows as the top book of the decade in their newly released Young Adult Fiction list. The list was put together by a "dedicated team of Indigo book buyers," with the titles chosen based on their "impact and their popularity". Other books on the list include Markus Zusak's The Book Thief and Philip Pullman's The Amber Spyglass. The article continues to comment on the recent success of Young Adult Fiction, saying:
Young adult fiction flourished through the past decade with Indigo and Chapters seeing 200% growth through the latter five years. As expected, J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga top the Indigo Best of the Decade List for young readers.
The Harry Potter series also gained a place in the retailer's Booklovers' Top Ten "Life-changing" Books list, alongside other highly successful titles from Yann Martel's
Life of Pi to Harper Lee's 1960
To Kill a Mockingbird.

Even with Twilight up there, Deathly Hallows absolutely deserved the honor—I thought that Seven was pretty amazing, myself. :)

I read the first in German and thought >what a lousy writing style, maybe it s better to read them in English<. But then I found out that this lady really isn t able to write better than a third grade pupil. Imagine how great the books could have been if Mrs Meyer had sold the story to JKR!!! But admittedly she hit the nerve of millions of girls who are more interested in a catching story line than a good writing stile

I like the fact that it is compaired to “To Kill a Mocking Bird”. — And I have to agree the Twilight books are not good at all. But on a positive note, they are keeping kids interested in reading which is in itself a positive.

I agree, if Twilight had been written before HP, I sincerely doubt that they would have been as popular. Twilight owes a big thank you to JKR.

Yes allprostar I have, and you are 100% correct. In terms of writing passion and raw skill JK runs laps around just about everyone out there, and I swear I’m not biased!!! GO HARRY!!!!
