Telegraph: J. K. Rowling Bestselling Author of the Decade

The Telegraph has ranked Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling in the number one spot of their list compiling the top 100 bestselling authors of the decade.  With over twenty-nine million copies sold, Miss Rowling's novels beat out books by such other authors as Dan Brown, John Grisham, J. R. R. Tolkien, William Shakespeare, and Frank McCourt.  According to the paper, sales figures the Harry Potter novels released from the year 2000 to 2009 total 225.9 million pounds.  The top ten bestselling authors are as follows:

Fair play and kudos to the lady – but for long-haul comparison with the likes of Shakespeare, I daresay that our descendants will need to check back in four or five centuries’ time to see how JKR is selling then. I don’t think Ol’ Bill the Bard had the combined marketing machines of Bloomsbury, Scholastic and Warner behind him!

she’s sold WAAAYYYY more than that. and she’s the best author of the history of the world, not just the decade. but yeah, she’s THE BEST.
