Harry Potter has been on many minds of late, and is apparently the subject of many a tweet. Twitter, the communication system that lets you reach people around the world in 140 characters or less, has released their Top Trends for 2009. As noted in the Washington Post with the full list here, "Harry Potter" was the Top Movie trend edging out communications about films "New Moon," "District 9," "Paranormal Activity," and "Star Trek."
Thanks Erika!

I’m happy to beat new moon, I admit that, though I do find it a little surprising. (I am a casual twilight fan btw). Harry Potter as a movie franchise has never failed to take a good 900mil at the box office and though twilight’s numbers are teeny tiny compared to that, that franchise and everyone in it is suddenly everywhere (unlike most of our young actors who don’t do many outside projects or make a terrible amount of appearances – of course when you’re shooting 9 months out of the year every year for a decade that can be quite difficult). but I seriously would have thought new moon would have had HP beat in this regard given they’ve even got Taylor Lautner hosting snl. (horrendous ep – they shouldve got Dan! perhaps next year for the DH release?)
Whoo! Go Harry! I love it that we beat out the Twilight Saga!
