A treat has arrived this morning: the first deleted scene from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film as made its way online and can be watched right here, as well as in our Video Galleries here.  The simply chilling sequence, released by WB Italy, features a breathtaking performance by actor Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) as darkness descends upon the castle.  This deleted scene is slated to be among many special extras found on the upcoming Half-Blood Prince DVD, set to be released stateside on December 8.

Update:  Additionally, WBItaly released two other short clips from a number of the extras on the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD, including actress Emma Watson receiving a Dark Mark (Gallery video here) and one of actor Rupert Grint discussing the development of his character, Ron Weasley (Gallery video here).

I don’t believe that they cut this brilliant scene out ! It is perfect – the switch from Flitwick conducting the choir, McGonnall’s warning, Ron and Hermione watching the sky go dark – and then Alan’s face …. it means they actually did have some good ideas for the film – but for some reason they just chose to cut the best of it out. WHY WHY WHY ??? And instead of this they are adding superflous extras like the Burrow attack or Harry and this girl in the cafe … just ridiculous …I don’t understand Yates and Co.

This scene should never have been cut from the film! It really shows the danger looming over Hogwarts and Snape’s bit was amazing. They should have included this and cut down on all those cringeworthy Ron/Lavender scenes!

This scene is amazing! So emotionally powerful and the song…! They could have used this song in the beginning of the battle scene if it was in. It would be brilliant!

And WHY, I repeat WHY the heck was that deleted? It would have been PERFECT. I didn’t like how they cut right from the amazing fire scene to Draco in his hospital bed. I thought that transition was ehhh. If they had put THIS scene in it would’ve been so much better. Wow. What an amazing scene. The music is perfect. Alan is perfect. Wowww.

Guess That Book

Something very cold trickled down the back of Harry's neck; for a moment he thought someone was putting a Disillusionment Charm on him again, then realized that Mrs. Weasley was attacking his hair with a wet comb. She pressed hard on the top of his head.
