A treat has arrived this morning: the first deleted scene from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film as made its way online and can be watched right here, as well as in our Video Galleries here. The simply chilling sequence, released by WB Italy, features a breathtaking performance by actor Alan Rickman (Severus Snape) as darkness descends upon the castle. This deleted scene is slated to be among many special extras found on the upcoming Half-Blood Prince DVD, set to be released stateside on December 8.
Update: Additionally, WBItaly released two other short clips from a number of the extras on the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD, including actress Emma Watson receiving a Dark Mark (Gallery video here) and one of actor Rupert Grint discussing the development of his character, Ron Weasley (Gallery video here).

i agree with all of you…it should have been in the movie….it clarifies what was
happening at Hogwart’s, because for the fans of the ‘movies only’ it really lost translation of what was going on at hogwart’s….for us that read the book we knew what was happening, but i felt the movie really didn’t pull it all together at the end of the movie. kudos to rickman :D

Now, why on Earth would they cut a scene like that and keep so much of the teen angst? This could have been a really chilling film with more of this kind of thing and a flashback scene between Ralph Fiennes and Michael Gambon.

You can really see the dispair and inner struggle in his face – I REALLY wish they’d kept this in. I so want to squeeze the life out of him right there!
I know it gives some away, but they already hinted more to the truth than the book did. It’s not that big a secret to us anymore…
Also, the haunting choir and how the shadows travel across his face is beautiful, very symbolic, excellent cinematography! I have been waiting for a poignant SNapescene like this forever! Must.get.movie!

i’m speechless! it was just a minute and a half short but it said a thousand things all at once! that was absolutely chilling and i’m now very disappointed that they didn’t include that. it was really powerful and alan rickman need not say anything just to give you this eerie feeling because his facial expression is enough. brilliant actor!

Awesome clip, but I wish it showed more of what was happening while Dumbledore and Harry were away.

That song is so beautiful, and Flitwick never gets that much attention, so I really like when he directs for the chior. The scene is so amazing, hopefully they have all the deleted scenes on the dvd December 8th!

Breathtaking? When I read that I was expecting to watch something amazing and then I watch it and it’s just him looking at the sky… Not much is needed to take your breath. ;)

The HBP DVD was released here in Estonia on the 5th, so I bought it, don’t know how or why so early, but I can provide some pictures or videos of the rest of the deleted scenes and other stuff(although with not that great quality).
