We have more tonight regarding that new issue of Movie Magic magazinewe told you about a few days ago, which contains a large preview on the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince movie.” Thanks to Orchid, who let us know she now has all the scans up at her Harry/Ginny website. Of interest is a new interview with actor Tom Felton (scans also here, here and here in our galleries) who speaks a bit more on his character of Draco Malfoy in the sixth Harry Potter film. Tom says that there “are reasons that Draco is the way he is…He’s seen so many things and been taught so many wrong ideas from his father, Lucius, and of course he worships his father. He wants to be like him, to emulate him in every way. But his father has been involved in Voldemort’s dark circle for many years, so it’s not unusual that Draco would want to follow that path too. Everything is to please his father.” The article also contains a bit from Potter film producer David Heyman, who praises the actor’s performance in the upcoming movie, as he says “Tom’s nuances in the new film are terrific. It feels like a deeper richer character than we’ve seen to date.”
On a related note, and perhaps of greater interest to fans, is a possible movie spoiler contained in the magazine’s Encyclopedia of things relating to “Half-Blood Prince.” While it is possible this is a typo or mistake, the article describes the dreadful character of Fenrir Greyback and what is a possible plot twist in the movie. If you do not wish to read more, please stop here, otherwise scroll down for more.

The article (scan here) describes the Werewolf in the movie, and then says that in his attempt to create “an army of werewolves,” “Fenrir attacks Harry, but Harry or (someone unseen) petrifies him in time. But Ron’s Dad is not so lucky-Fenrir mauls his face and nearly kills him.” As readers will recall, we learned that the character of Fleur was not going to be in HBP, nor have we learned of the casting for Bill Weasley, so perhaps they have given Arthur that terrible fate for this film, however as we do not know if this is indeed the case, please keep this in the rumor category until we can update with more.
I’m confused. How can they not have Bill and Fleur in DH? You can’t have Ron go home when he storms off. The whole point of the conversation when he comes back is that he didn’t go to the burrow. This is crazy. I understand the people who say that it’s not supposed to be just like the book, but can you honestly say that you want them to totally distort it like this? Without Bill being savaged in HBP, the conversation in the hospital wing either won’t work right or won’t even be there, so when will Harry be able to tell everybody what happened? This is crazy. This is very upsetting. By the way, I haven’t read anything about the Ginny and Harry kiss. Did I miss it, or did they take that out too? If they take that out, I’ll cry. That is sooooo important.
Emily,
I’m pretty sure the Harry/Ginny romance is still in. In the recent USA TODAY article and pics they said they’ve even put in at least one ‘almost’ moment.
It’s one of the pitfalls of having started making the films as the books were being released. Not everyone is going to included, and that’s going to upset the book fans. They have to go with whom the general audience knows and cares about.
@Emily: I’m pretty sure Harry and Ginny kiss. David Yates, Dan, and Bonnie said they do. In fact, Dan said they filmed a kiss the third day of filming.
UUUGGGGHHH!!!! that is soo retarded i know they can’t make it that long n stuff but still!!!!! im sure me and ALOT of other harry potter fans would LOVE it if, for once, they would stick to the REAL plot!!!MAKES ME SOO MAD!!
YAY! I feel better. Btw, Bill getting savaged happens in HBP. I have it on CD so I can listen to it in bed. Last CD in the set has the hospital wing part. Remember? Nobody dies, but Flitwick, Neville and Bill get injured. That’s Half Blood Prince. Thanks for the info everybody. I’m starting to think I should pay more attention to news.
I so DO hope it is true, that would be a good angle for the film ,on the story,as long as they do not let him die.
Another father figure ..as good as Mr.Weasley is..should not be taken from Harry’s life.
The movie mass audiance that have not read the books will enjoy the extra storyline…since Bill and Fluer are not in it .And those of us who have will still
get a even better film because of this.
I wonder ””IF” it is Snape who freezes him,,,,if Dombledore is gone.
Actually, Bill getting mauled wasn’t a minor part of the story, at least not to me. It was yet another scare for the Weasley family (and psyched everyone up for an eventual death of a family member), finally brought Fleur and Molly together, and showed that love is a commitment, and that families, friendships, and couples are tested and challenged by Voldemort’s regime. It also led up to the confession of Tonks and Lupin’s relationship. However, since the filmmakers have decided that character back story is unimportant, and removed Fleur and Bill, and the Tonks/Lupin relationship from the film, they should leave out the Fenrir mauling altogether, instead of writing in Arthur as an alternative victim (thus overemphasizing his luck against death), just so they can salvage the “exciting” aspect of a werewolf attack. Sometimes in recipes, it’s better to just omit an ingredient rather than try to replace it with something else. The same goes for stories. I am not saying that the films have to be 100% identical to the books, but I am sick of the filmmakers making their own alterations and plot changes to concentrate the action and suspense in the films in order to appease viewers with short attention spans and generate more profits. Or sometimes it has nothing to do with money, it seems, but perhaps the sheer joy of control; like it being written and filmed that Sirius was killed by the Avada Kedavra curse instead of falling into the veil due to the impact of a non-lethal spell. There was no point in that, whatsoever. And yes, they are JUST movies. WB has made sure of that.
yall needa calm down with this harry potter bull ish. you guys trip too much on it. from what i know books are different from the movies bitches. and eragon is way better than harry potter any day. yall should be reading charlie bone…do something useful in your life…
Let’s all take a moment to remember that this is still in the rumor category and nothing is confirmed until the films come out.
Of course the books are going to be more enjoyable then the films. JKR can put loads more in. Books can be thousands of pages long where as a movie that is 6 hours long wouldn’t be as interesting (and no one would be able to sit all the way through it without having to get up at least once).
Also we must all remember that WB isn’t doing anything in regards to the HP franchise without JK Rowling’s seal of approval. She reads every draft of the screen play. She wouldn’t let them do anything that would screw with her world.
Also? David Yates doesn’t write these films. Can we stop attacking him already? It’s been months of attacking David Yates. He’s directing. He’s done a good job or else WB and JK Rowling wouldn’t have asked him back. Let’s not judge until HBP comes out.
All i have to say is Guys!!!! GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s a movie!!! yes you might like the movies and have read all the books but get over it! Trust me! I am one of the hugesyt HP fans!! Don’t worry about the movies yuntil they come out ok!!!!!!! OH YA!!! All you people leaving comments, go back to grade to and take a spelling lesson!
"I'd be careful if I were you, Potter," he said slowly. "Unless you're a bit politer you'll go the same way as your parents. They didn't know what was good for them, either. You hang around with riffraff like the Weasleys and that Hagrid, and it'll rub of
