Over the weekend, Collectormania was held in Milton Keynes in England, where actress Natalia Tena took part in an autograph session with fans. Emma, from the Snitchseeker, was able to speak to the actress about her role in the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. According to the report, Natalia Tena says her character Tonks “was only on set for the part where Death Eaters attack the Burrow at Christmas (where Harry & Weasleys are present). She said that none of the angst of her character is there – indeed, she and Lupin are just suddenly a couple when they meet there.”
The actress goes on to give a few thoughts as well about “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” and what happens to Tonks during the book, with Tena noting in the film version, she ” would love to have to ride a broom with a pregnant belly.”
I was lucky enough to talk to Nat myself when I went and I asked her if she was going to be filming a death scene for Deathly Hallows and she said she doubted it highly, they would probably just show her dead body lying next to Remus or something lame like that.
She also mentioned that they were going to cut Dumbledore’s funeral from the sixth film which really upset me. This was the first part of any Harry Potter book to make me cry and if they had done it well, I’m sure watching the on screen version of it would make me cry again. Very disappointed. (But cool to meet Nat!)
What the #!? The Death Eaters don’t attack the Burrow at Christmas in the book!!! I honestly understand that they cannot put in every scene from the book into the movie. But when they start taking out canon subjects and replacing them with completely different story plots, it really irritates me. If I find Yates and the screenplay writer in a dark alley, I’m beating them over the head with a hard-back copy of Half Blood Prince.
I have to admit that I like this arrangement better. Tonks sudden outburst in the hospital scene might have worked in books( it didn’t for me btw, it was very awkward ) but it would have been even worse in the movie imo. I’m glad they changed it to them being couples like this.
Am I the first here to remind everyone that the producers got JK’s permission to ADD a scene to show that nowhere is really safe? The attack at the Burrow is that scene.
I totally agree, Hermy.
My God, has 5 movies seriously not got it through peoples heads that things will ALWAYS change- it’s an ADAPTION, not the book word for word on screen that does NOT work, so get over it. Complaining does nothing for your health.
Thank you Jeanne, I’m going to scream if one more person doesn’t inform themselves about the new scene- you snooze, you LOSE.
I’m not too upset about changes that must be made for the films (and I too thought that Tonks love for Lupin was rather sudden in HBP – there was not even a hint of it in OOTP – I didn’t notice it anyway). But now I wonder who will find Harry on the Hogwarts express under the invisibility cloak after Draco has paralyzed him? I’m pretty sure they’re doing that scene as they did show a bit of that on those sneak peak films of HBP that you can see on YouTube. I don’t care that much – just curious.
WOW. i cant believe they took that out. i mean i can but still. it wont make sense to nonHP readers why all of a sudden lupin and tonks are together. theres a story behind that.
For anyone inquiring about the Burrow scene it has been explained enough times over in the comments about the trailer description but i’ll say it again! The attack on the Burrow is an added scene to remind people that nowhere is safe – not even the Burrow. It was confirmed ages ago and approved by J.K Rowling. Wait until you see it to judge.
this is jest stupid why cut out i great scene at the end “Dumbledore’s funeral” this is one of the scenes in the book i realy remember coz i was in tears. why are they replacing good scenes with new ones its backward if u ask me

Sorry about the speeling btw and, and I meant that Tonks and Lupin isn’t so close with Harry in the movie, not the books :P
