Georgia Board of Education to Review Potter Case

As we have reported, the Georgia woman who failed in her attempt to have the Harry Potter books removed from public school shelves has filed an appeal. Now, the Georgia State Board of Education has decided to hold a public hearing on October 3, 2006 to review the matter. The initial complaint filed by Laura Mallory contends the books "promote and glorify withcraft." But the Gwinnet County Board of Education voted unanimously to keep the books in public school libraries there, saying that they "promote critical thinking skills and imagination."
