The Phoenix Rises Over the Big Easy

A brand new Harry Potter Conference has been announced for 2007. Phoenix Rising, an educational and academic gathering, is set to be held in the city of New Orleans May 17-21, 2007. Aiming to further explore the Harry Potter phenomenon, this conference will feature academic programing, with panel discussions, roundtables, and debates. Brought to you by the same team which organized The Witching Hour recently held in Salem, Mass, Phoenix Rising will have the same great discussions along with games, Quidditch, fanfiction readings, as well as an art gallery. Just as the Phoenix rises from the ashes, so is the lovely old historic city of New Orleans recovering from Hurricane Katrina, and it is sure to be a perfect backdrop for a Masquerade Ball that has been planned for this event as well. Registration will open on February 28th, and the Call for Papers will begin on March 31st of this year. For further information, visit the Phoenix Rising site. Laissez les bons temps roulez!
Update: It appears that the site is straining under all the traffic at the moment. They hope to have it back up and running here shortly.
