ComingSoon.net and Box Office Mojo are reporting that Goblet is set to bring in $101.5M in its first three days, setting a new box office record for November and surpassing Sorcerer’s Stone, the previous highest opening-weekend grossing movie of the franchise. It made about $26,289 per theater.
It will also be the fourth biggest weekend for a movie in film box office history, coming in just behind Spider-Man ($114.8M), ($108.4M) and Shrek 2 ($108M). It’s the second-best opener of 2005, and its Friday box office is the second-highest single-day performance in history, beat only by Spider-Man ($39.41, to Potter’s $39.35). Its Saturday total of $35.5M is the fourth biggest for opening Saturday.
