UK Television Channel ITV will be broadcasting two specials in conjunction with the release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. One of the programs is called “Harry Potter: Behind the Magic”, a hour long special on the making of the new Potter film. This behind the scenes feature on Goblet include new interviews with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) and Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), as well as Katie Leung (Cho Chang) and Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory). There will also be inside glimpses into the art of filmmaking by Goblet producer David Heyman, director Mike Newell, production designer Stuart Craig, special effects supervisor John Richardson and chief animal trainer Gary Gero. While we do not have a firm airdate at this time, we will update you as soon as we can.
A second program is called “Harry Potter: Some Animal Magic” a 30 minute show set to air on Sunday November 13 at 4.45pm on ITV1. This program will feature all of the animals seen in the Potter films. There will be a behind the scenes look at how they work with the animals and include things such as the training of the owls to deliver the post, and making Crookshanks “look a lot scruffier and unkempt than he really is.” Emma Watson will appear, as well as Robbie Coltrane. Goblet film director Mike Newell talks about a scene with Daniel Radcliffe saying “The worst thing we had to do was to get an owl to peck Dan’s hand and that took about 25 takes but then honestly a big star can take 25 takes!”
