Harry Potter ‘Lame’

In an editorial from the University of Southern California, creative writing senior Craig Stern attempts to educate adult readers of the Harry Potter series:
I’d like to take this opportunity to provide a little reality check for USC students who seem to be a little too enraptured with the series. Harry Potter is for children. It is a series of children’s books. They are unsophisticated, flamingly unoriginal, escapist fantasy books written for juveniles.
Call yourself postmodern. Call yourself an enthusiast. Call yourself whatever you like, but when you run around spouting Harry Potter terminology and comparing everything you see to Harry Potter, there is only one word that really describes you: “lame.”
