I just wanted to take

I just wanted to take a moment to weigh in on the new design. Some may recall that several months ago when we put a call in for new design proposals, we posted that we wanted the design to be standards-based and accessible. Well, I authored that CFP and am afraid to say I didn’t follow through. The fact is, my time on TLC has decreased significantly with recent employment (after being unemployed for way too long), so when the time came to get Natalie’s beautiful new design set to go, I hadn’t taken the time to go through the process to validate the XHTML, tweak the CSS and run everything through the Bobby Web accessibility engine. After a few rather rude comments regarding this, it jogged me into realizing what I had done.

Those of you who visited the site earlier today and yesterday will notice now, that things are different. For you Web-savvy folk, the TEMPLATE for the site (we use a Content Management System called Blogger which produced everything from a template) is AAA Bobby Approved using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and validated against the XHTML Transitional DTD. However each post was initially formatted by Blogger which uses some non-standards compliant code. Over the next week, I have to go through the site post by post and fix this XHTML.

Thanks to those of you who sent us great emails complimenting Natalie on the new design. We like it too- that’s why we chose it. (Though mind you with the top 5 we narrowed it down to, it was incredibly difficult). We hope you’ll enjoy TLC for the years (and books & movies) to come.
